Doug Home from South Sudan

11/12/2014

Greetings friends,
Just a quick note to let you prayer supporters know I (Doug) have arrived back home in Indiana from South Sudan & Uganda trip. God was (and is) at work there developing these men and their training program. One leader said they have something even the government has not yet developed, but wants,- training in the local language to serve people in the local, heart languages! They are the leaders in this area and will show others what Christ can do to reach the hearts and minds of Sudanese!

The students are stepping up to the next level of training and are showing to everyone's surprise (including themselves) how much they are learning and growing in the handling and applying of God's Word to their lives. They are so excited about seeing God work in them that they are designing ways to get their local churches directly involved as those Churches comment on the growth and change in preaching and discipling of these Pastors in their midst.

Thanks for praying and will give more details in the next prayer letter from this trip. If you have emailed me with questions or requests in past 3 weeks please be patient as I have narrowed down the 256 "personal" type emails while gone and I am getting closer to seeing some more personal ones in the midst. However if you do not hear from me soon (next few days) feel free to write again to be sure I see it. Thanks.

Yes Doug is off to meetings in Uganda and then teaching in South Sudan. Leaving this Tuesday for a few weeks travel. Please join us in prayer especially as the Sudanese start their own training sessions on the lower level courses we have already completed with first group and Doug begins the next training level for that first group of students. It will be stretching all of these brethren in these new areas.

Also pray as Doug seeks top set the rest of the curriculum for 2015 and 2016. We are teaching the President of the Bible Seminary in Ulaan Baatar as one of the "students". He is taking these courses back to disciple his professors/ facility. Expecting 25 students who are traveling many miles to be together.
Also pray for CHeryl as she stays home keeping things running here in USA.

On The Road Again

Dear Praying friends,
We are leaving for our East Africa trip. We will be teaching in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania and gone for a little over a month. Please pray especially for the Tanzanian venue. We have experienced covert, undercurrent spiritual opposition there regularly. Things that are hard to identify at the time and they are not things that are totally unreasonable for our venues. It is more of the timing and frequency of the complications perhaps that have added up to being true under current of the enemy's opposition to God's work there.

We also are traveling while our youngest daughter is potentially moving to Indianapolis as she transfer to a new campus and secures an apartment etc.

Thank you for joining with us through prayer and financial support in this ministry. We will be returning at the end of August unless the LORD has appeared before then :-)

Doug's Itinerary

Sorry I am not able to give you an extended update on the Mongolia trip the beginning of this month. We are working on a new prayer letter for that but will not be able to go out until June. Thanks for praying and we are seeing God's mighty Hand at work there.

Doug is leaving Tuesday for teaching in South Sudan. We are hoping this will climax in the first graduation for a Certificate in Biblical Studies for 32 students and one already promoted to glory due to the conflict there last December. Then the leadership will be discussing with Doug the next training sessions. Decisions must be made and we ask you to pray with us for God's divine wisdom and all of us are having the mind of Christ in the planning of what comes next there. Famine is continuing and resources greatly limited but the Pastors coming as students are determined. Please pray for each one as they travel and Doug's many connections to get there. Doug will take 3 days of travel and a 2 day layover in Uganda to reach the teaching site. He can use those two days for meetings with the Ugandan and Kenyan partners in Kampala with just a few more connections and a little more traveling.

Thank you for joining us in prayer and please remember Cheryl as she stays home and keeps things going here in Kokomo.

First Official Trip Into Mongolia!

5/9/2014

Dear praying friends,I have returned from the first official trip leading a TRI-M team of auxiliary teachers into Mongolia! It was a wonderful trip and very encouraging to see our Mongolian leadership so well organized in choosing a new group of 19 students. They also used the teaching week to outline a schedule to follow up on each student in order to discipline new leadership and evaluate how the students can use the teachings from this past week to benefit their ministries. A great partnership of TRI-M providing the teaching sessions and the Mongolians do the follow-up.

I hope to give you a full report in our next prayer update. However, a few encouraging and challenging facts from the trip would still be in order here. Many of the students were challenged in the Bible Study Methods course, emphasizing letting the Bible text speak for itself first before moving on to interpretation. This was demonstrated in the courses teaching Genesis 1-11 and Bibliology. By the end of the week, students were sharing that they were returning to their churches and confessing to their people that they had been wrong in preaching and teaching others conclusions and not letting the Bible speak to them first. There was great determination on their faces and humility in their voices as they shared this with the group. These are all first generation believers, both church members and leaders. The leaders, that were our students this past week, shared that this is too important an issue to ignore or be candid about before their people. Truth is Truth and they are needing to ask forgiveness and change how they minister the Word of God!

We also saw God open the door for the Manager of the facility where we met to request the pastors to sing for the staff. After a number of worship songs one pastor smoothly stepped in and preached a clear Gospel message and all 7 responded to be born again and learn to walk with Jesus! It was treated as if that was not a surprising thing God arranged as a result of our being there. What confidence in God-ordained opportunities treated as almost a usual occurrence!
These are just a few of the results of you joining us in prayer. Please continue to pray for Doug as he brought back what might be considered a Mongolian version of the flu and is scheduled to travel to South Sudan the 20th May for teaching and graduation of the first group of students there.

South Sudan Terror

I have just returned from South Sudan last week BEFORE the fighting started. Many of the students taught that previous week are now suffering from the unstable situation in South Sudan, especially the capital of Juba. Below is communication from one of our contacts there. It is a sad to hear of the physical suffering but also others in similar situations have shared that it is at these times the Gospel is most effectively shared. Keep praying for our brothers & sisters in South Sudan!

Subject: 500dead Juba

Dear All Churches,

Pray for us in South Sudan.Already 500 people are dead in Juba both soldiers and civilians.People are dying from bullets, water, hunger, lack of medicine, and from beatings as house to house search goes on at night.

ln Juba people depend on water brought by trucks,no piped water. For fear of stray bullets, water suppliers feared to bring water to the homes.People depend on the food from Uganda, with the closer of the immigration no food enters Juba. Markets were closed. Most suffers are the children.Pray for God,s intervention.

The war broke out just last Sunday l5th December 20l3 as power struggle between the President and the Vice-President Machar.

The war is spreading outside Juba in which many people will die.

Cheryl & I arrived home from East Africa last Tuesday. Great trip with God very involved in directing and confirming His hand as we traveled many miles and taught. We hope to get a prayer letter out by beginning of October to expand on those details.  Tomorrow, I, (Doug) leave for a new teaching site in Mongolia. This will be my first time there and ask that you pray for Godly discernment of the need and opportunities in that country. Tri-M will have a graduation of the first group of Pastors but there are potential for 2 new groups to start again in different locations. I am going to see if they would be comfortable continuing with a different TRI-M missionary. Cheryl will be staying home this trip, so if you need anything please feel free to contact us through normal Stateside means and she can help you.

Thanks for praying with us.

Please Pray - East Africa Trip

Cheryl & Doug Boisvert (TRI-M Africa) are leaving Thursday 8 August at 2 AM for their 5 week teaching in East Africa. So far there have not been any reports of any trouble in the areas we are traveling in. We are not going through Nairobi Kenya so that has not interrupted our schedule Lord Willing.  We are the first night in DAR Es Saalam Tanzania but after that mainly in village settings.

Please pray that the students are not experiencing any safety or economic set backs that could distract them from their studies these next 5 weeks. Also that our travel would not be stopped or hinder the students from getting this training God seems to have organized for us to be involved in. We are in Tanzania for two sites and Uganda for one then Western Kenya for last week. Thank you for holding us up in prayer throughout August and beginning of September especially!

Trip Update

5/30/2013

Thank you for praying with us for Doug's last trip through Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan! The teaching showed encouraging signs of being well received and great potential for being repeated by the students.

As shared before leaving, these three sites were all in transition mode. In Kenya, Doug was assisting Pastor Thomas establish his first satellite site for CAMSOM. This went very well with Thomas taking the lead and established as the main teacher even with Doug's presence, PTL! The Ugandan site is well on it;s way to completing the Diploma level of training and introducing a new vernacular training at the basic level. South Sudan has established it's training program to move ahead with 63 returning students as well.

Doug did pick up a "flu" type illness and has taken a few days to recover from the congestion and cough. That along with the 8 hour time zone jump has kept him from bouncing back right away. But we praise God for being able to serve Him and rep[resent you before our brethren overseas. Thanks for praying with us!
